Supporting Student Success (S3)

Supporting Student Success (S3 Student Success), formerly called the Community in Schools program, is a special initiative provided by the Heart of Illinois United Way to Central Illinois schools.Supporting Student Success (S3), formerly called the Community in Schools program, is a special initiative provided by the Heart of Illinois United Way to Central Illinois schools.

S3 offers local students, and their families, in-school social services focused on prevention, intervention and case management. In collaboration with the Heart of Illinois United Way partner agencies, these services work in tandem with educators and administrators to ensure a student’s success in school.

For the 2018-2019 school year, the Heart of Illinois United Way has granted more than $185,000 to implement the S3 initiative in 18 schools and districts in Peoria and Tazewell counties. School districts receiving grants include:

  • Charles A. Lindbergh Middle School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Dr. Maude A. Sanders Primary, Peoria Public Schools
  • Franklin Primary School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Glen Oak Community Learning Center, Peoria Public Schools
  • Harrison Community Learning Center, Peoria Public Schools
  • John L. Hensey Elementary School, Washington District 50
  • Lincoln K-8 School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Peoria High School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Pleasant Hill School, District 69
  • Pleasant Valley Middle School, District 62
  • Quest Charter Academy, Peoria Public Schools
  • Richwoods High School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Roosevelt Magnet School, Peoria Public Schools
  • Trewyn K-8, Peoria Public Schools
