February: the month of romance. In the barrage of Valentine’s Day, it is important to take a look at the relationships in our lives. February is not only the month dedicated to love; it is also Relationship Wellness Month. Our relationships include more than just the romantic ones. Take this month of February to examine all of the relationships in our lives, including those with our families, friends, and coworkers.
Sometimes, relationships in our lives are not healthy. If you find yourself in an unhealthy, abusive relationship, it is important to get help to enable you to get out of the situation. Abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, or financial. If you are experiencing any type of abuse in your relationships, The Center for Prevention of Abuse is an incredibly helpful resource. This organization helps all people of all ages escape the cycle of abuse and find safety, peace, and healing. If you are in need of assistance, you can call their crisis hotline at 1-800-559-SAFE, visit their website at centerforpreventionofabuse.org, or visit the center at the locations listed on their website.
The Freedom House is another invaluable resource to those who are experiencing abuse in their lives. In addition to shelter services, Freedom House provides domestic and sexual violence prevention programs, prevention programs for grade school and high school students, medical and legal advocacy, and volunteer support.
