Celebrating 100 Years of Community Impact Founded October 18, 1921, and with our first fundraising campaign in January 1922, the Heart of Illinois United Way is celebrating 100 years of community impact this year.

Our History

Our organization’s history is a chronicle of who we are now, who we were, and how we have evolved to support the community we all call home.

For the past 100 years, the Heart of Illinois United Way has built a strong foundation of support on the shoulders of those who have come before us and we continue to work with all of you today to support those who come after us. Our work is always evolving to ensure we support those in need, provide value to our investors, and create positive impact within the community.

We do not do this work alone— for decades, teams of incredible nonprofits, volunteers, and donors just like you have worked collaboratively to create sustainable impact on the education, financial stability, and health needs of central Illinois. Thank you!
