Heart of Illinois Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

The Heart of Illinois United Way believes that every person is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect including equal access to justice. We are focused on supporting the most critical health and human care concerns of our community and we continue to support people in need by investing with our nonprofit partners so there is no stoppage of essential programs during this time. Additionally, our 2-1-1 information and referral line is available 24/7 to direct callers to critical community resources.

We are an inclusive organization working towards equity in schools, jobs, and health care to ensure the basic rights and freedoms of everyone are protected. Across our nation, recent events expose underlying racism, prejudice, and privilege that are preventing too many people from being treated with the humanity and respect they deserve. These incidents run counter to everything that the Heart of Illinois United Way values.

We must all do our part to make our community the home we need it to be – equitable, respectful, and opportunity-filled. We, as a society, must guarantee basic human rights and freedoms of every person in our community are protected. The Heart of Illinois United Way knows we are better together and stronger united.
