Congratulations to Anne Bowman, the Director of Oncology at Carle Health, for being named the Heart of Illinois United Way’s 2025 Hoot Gibson Honoree.
Since 1985, the Heart of Illinois United Way has recognized a volunteer who works countless hours to help others without fanfare. The award is presented in memory of Horace J “Hoot” Gibson, Jr., who pursued his goals quietly and determinedly, caring little if others knew of his accomplishments.
Like Hoot, our 2025 honoree, has dedicated her career and volunteer work to improving health care in central Illinois. Before joining Carle Health, Anne secured grants and provided educator training at the Hult Center for Healthy Living, one of our partner agencies.
As a Heart of Illinois United Way Solution Council member, Anne co-chairs the education impact area. She also served on our campaign cabinet and was an early volunteer for our GENeration United program. In addition to her extensive volunteer hours with United Way, Anne supports several nonprofits, including the Midwest Food Bank, Junior League of Peoria, and the Susan G. Komen Leadership Council.
Among her many honors and accomplishments, Anne graduated from the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Leadership School, received the 25 Women in Leadership Award, and was recognized as a Mission Partner by the American Cancer Society.
