How the
Heart of Illinois United Way Helps the Community
Successful Fundraiser
The Heart of Illinois
United Way is a highly successful fundraiser with an outstanding growth
in dollars over the past five years. In 2006, we raised $8.525 million
for our community.
Community Impact
How the Dollars
are Distributed
More than 80 volunteers,
representing the diverse population of central Illinois, distribute the
dollars raised from the annual campaign. Decisions are based on outcomes
addressing four issue areas: youth, families, self-reliance, and health.
By moving from program-based funding to measurable results, the HOIUW
can provide more accountability to donors.
How the dollars are spent
The Heart of Illinois United Way’s overall expenses,
including fundraising and administrative functions, remain constant at
9.7 percent of the total budget. Simply put, that means that 90.3 cents
of every dollar collected through the campaign goes directly back to the
services and programs of this community.
